FOLEY, Minn. — A Princeton, Minnesota, man was sentenced to 76-and-a-half years in prison on Friday, Oct. 13, for shooting five law enforcement officers in a 2023 standoff at his home.

Karl Thomas Holmberg, 66, was sentenced in Benton County Court to three 306-month consecutive terms.

A jury found Holmberg guilty in August after a nine-day trial in August on seven counts of first-degree attempted murder, seven counts of first-degree assault using a dangerous weapon against a law enforcement officer and second-degree possession of a controlled substance. Holmberg also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm after a previous conviction.
