Harvard Students Cry That Asking Them to Work Hard is Bad For Their “Mental Health”
“I can’t reach my maximum level of enjoyment"

There’s a personality type on display here. If you want to understand where so much of the wokeness is coming from, this is one place to start.

A Harvard report found that grade inflation was a major problem and urged more serious academic standards.

Here’s the response from our future leaders.

abolitionist Frederick Douglass: “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will.”

Sophie Chumburidze ’29 said the report felt dismissive of students’ hard work and academic struggles.

“The whole entire day, I was crying,” she said. “I skipped classes on Monday, and I was just sobbing in bed because I felt like I try so hard in my classes, and my grades aren’t even the best.”

“It just felt soul-crushing,” she added.

Kayta A. Aronson ’29 said stricter standards could take a serious toll on students’ mental health.

“It makes me rethink my decision to come to the school,” she said. “I killed myself all throughout high school to try and get into this school. I was looking forward to being fulfilled by my studies now, rather than being killed by them.”

Zahra Rohaninejad ’29 added that grading already felt harsh and raising standards further would only erode students’ ability to enjoy their classes.

“I can’t reach my maximum level of enjoyment just learning the material because I’m so anxious about the midterm, so anxious about the papers, and because I know it’s so harshly graded,” she said. “If that standard is raised even more, it’s unrealistic to assume that people will enjoy their classes.”

Wow.  What a bunch of little crybabies.  All future JDs at Harvard Law, no doubt.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
If hard work is 'bad for their mental health', I'd suggest manual labor. Just move the dirt where you are told. Stress free.

They have no business being leaders of anything.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

This had to be from The Bee.   But then I saw that it wasn't.

You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Right?  About the only people I really feel sorry for are the writers at The Bee; they've got to be really having to stretch it to come up with satire that is in fact more outlandish than reality is.

Yes, having to work hard has taken years off my life and, harmed my health, and reduced my quality of living.  Desperation is one helluva motivator.

Why do you think hard-working people age and weather sooner than nepo babies?

If it's too much for you, honey, you can always give your slot to someone accoustomed to working their fingers to the bones and would appreciate the opportunity to graduate from Harvard University.

Adulthood does not have safe rooms nor participation trophies.  You either keep your head above water or you drown.

My wife hired a kid from a working-class town to detail her car for sale, and he did a phenominal job and was a great, hard-working kid.

My wife hired a different kid from an upper middle-class suburb.  He spent most of his time coming up with execuses why couldn't work this day or that day.  He treated work like it was optional.  She fired him.

I am not and never have been a leftist.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Harvard Geniuses: "Work is Hard".

Well, of course it is Cuffy. It's a most felicitous thing that Dad has a job already lined up for you at the State Department.

"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge

That's the first thing came to mind. :rolling: :rolling:

In my mind...you go to work and get a job. It pays you money so you can be full filled at home.

There is a reason this is called work. If it were otherwise we would call it play.

I oppose illegal immigration and believe we should have a secure border and if you want to come to this country to work, you need to follow the processes and laws

Having said that, after reading articles like this, I can understand why illegal immigrants are attractive to employers

What's the expression,
"Tough times make for tough men.
Tough men make for good times.
Good times make for weak men.
Weak men make for tough times."

I think I know what stage we're at now.
I think of my parents who survived the Depression, served in WW2 and what they would say if they were still alive.
From participation trophies, to kids not having summer jobs ( only 35% now compared to 80% years ago) we have created a generation or two of coddled snow flakes. Not all, as I see some who are productive members of society who were raised with the mantra, "that's life deal with it" and "nobody said life was fair". My kids are passing that on to their kids to build the necessary mental toughness to succeed.
"If you see an a**hole, there's an a**hole. If everywhere you look there's an a**hole, maybe you're the a**hole."

I'm thinking of them daily. My father, from up the holler at Buff Lick, W.Va., went to school barefoot as a child and grew up to command an LST in the South Pacific. He and his shipmates would have been gobsmacked by this entitled snowflake pansy sh!t.

He and my mother would be 101 and 100 years old, respectively, if they were still alive, and they would be utterly dismayed.
