DHS Likens Chicago Operation to ‘Sicario’ After Agents Targeted in Four Ramming Attacks in One Day

Federal immigration officers were targeted by violent suspects in vehicles on four separate occasions in the Chicago area on Wednesday, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS published disturbing details about the attacks and threats in a press release entitled, “Cicero or Sicario: A Day of Crashes” — a reference to the 2015 film depicting American intelligence operatives battling a drug cartel on Mexican soil.

Three American citizens in separate vehicles tailed U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) vehicles. When one of the suspects attempted to ram agents, all three were arrested.

A Latin Kings gang member displaying an anti-ICE flag followed a USBP vehicle for several miles before attempting to ram agents head-on. USBP avoided the collision, but the suspect crashed into another car and was arrested. His prior convictions include unlawful possession of a firearm, destroying evidence, and DUI.

Another suspected gang member with a criminal history stalked federal vehicles and impeded operations. After defying repeated orders to back off, he boxed government vehicles into an alleyway and was subsequently arrested.

USBP agents conducting a targeted enforcement operation encountered three illegal aliens from Mexico in a parking lot. The illegals refused orders to exit the vehicle in which they were traveling. The driver then rammed a government vehicle, scraped another, and struck an agent who was pursuing on foot. All three were arrested and turned over to ICE custody.

A federal judge will likely dismiss all the charges if the agents were wearing masks.
