But the tale crumbled under scrutiny: his aunt didn’t wear a hijab, and she wasn’t even in NYC—she was living in Tanzania at the time. Mamdani’s October 25, 2025, remarks decried “Islamophobia,” claiming he’d “bit my tongue” against “racist attacks” to prove he’s more than his faith. VP JD Vance called it out on X: “According to Zohran the real victim of 9/11 was his auntie who got some (allegedly) bad looks.”




I was waiting for this to come out. I verified that that's his only Muslim aunt. I wonder if any news orgs will ask him about this, or just go, 'Nah, fictional intimidated aunt that's OK nowadays.'

But, still, auntie was unable to ride the NY Subway after 9/11, so that part was true.  But, it wasn't due to Islamophobia; it was because auntie was in Tanzania.  Truth-i-ness strikes again.

Yes, but he’s a leftist, so he gets to have his own version of the “truth”, and in that version, if she had been in NYC and if she had worn a hijab, she would have subjectively felt uncomfortable and been unable to ride the subway, so that’s good enough for the other leftists in the media.   Nothing to see!

Pro-communist New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani was forced to walk back portions of a viral story about his hijab-wearing “aunt” in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

Last week, Mamdani, a practicing Muslim, was joined by a number of Muslim community leaders when he claimed that his “aunt” eventually had to stop taking the subway due to abuse hurled her way following the attacks. “I want to speak to the memory of my aunt, who stopped taking the subway after September 11th because she did not feel safe in her hijab,” he said during the press conference.

He went on to attack both of his opponents, Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo, for espousing “Islamophobic” views throughout the campaign.

The speech was well received in left-wing circles, as it followed the familiar theme of portraying America as a “racist” country, while critics referred to it as “tone deaf” for portraying Muslims as the true victims of 9/11. Vice President JD Vance was among those critics, who said, “According to Zohran the real victim of 9/11 was his auntie who got some (allegedly) bad looks.”

The story was met with scrutiny throughout the weekend, as researchers dug up photos of a woman identified as his aunt not wearing a hijab in several photos. While speaking at a follow-up press conference on Monday, Mamdani admitted that he was not actually speaking about his aunt, but a distant relative.

If NYC votes for an islamic communist, they deserve everything they will NOT get!!!

And Trump better shutdown every dollar going to that city.  EVERY DOLLAR!!!  I as a taxpayer do not want to subsidize that commnist hotbed of future anarchy, not one bit!

Trump already greatly increased the net income of folks in New York and New Jersey by increasing the maximum dollars to be deducted due to state and local income taxes.  The rest of the nation is subsidizing these clowns by yet a greater amount.  Ridiculous!!!!!!
