The ongoing government shutdown may soon have a direct impact on 42 million people, including 2.8 million Floridians, receiving benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Starting Nov. 1, SNAP recipients may experience delays in receiving money to purchase groceries due to federal funds running out at the end of October.
“SNAP benefits for the month of November will not be issued until federal funding is restored. You may receive notices about your eligible benefit amount, but you will not receive any benefits deposited to your EBT card during this time,” according to an “Important Message for Florida SNAP recipients” posted on the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) website.......
