 NJ man accused of driving drunk, killing newlywed couple in wrong-way collision rejects 7-year sentence plea deal

A New Jersey man accused of driving drunk in a wrong-way collision that killed a newlywed couple could spend decades behind bars after he rejected a plea deal in early October that called for a 7-year prison sentence.

Levon Woods, 25, allegedly got behind the wheel after drinking at a nightclub and then crashed into an oncoming vehicle when he crossed over into the westbound lane on Mays Landing Road in Cumberland County on Feb. 22, NJ.com reported.

Thomas Splinter, 57, and his wife Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, were in the other vehicle and both died at the scene.
 
Woods remained at the scene until police arrived.
 

He allegedly admitted to investigators that he “sipped on a bottle” of cognac at a Philadelphia nightclub before the fatal wreck, but insisted he wasn’t too intoxicated to drive, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.

Something doesn't add up in this.  The difference in ages between the newlyweds, she looks Hispanic and I wonder if this isn't an arranged marriage for her to get into the country. the driver got the deal of a lifetime and rejected it though legally drunk.  Something is amiss. :yowsa:

wow two people killed by a drunk and you decide to go all a twitter over one of the dead being an illegal scam bride…….kind of on the low side.
