The Tom Homan Bribery Story Has the Press Convinced of His Guilt – Despite the Lack of Evidence
By Brad Slager  | 3:20 PM on October 14, 2025

This weekend, the press was lit aflame anew when ABC News host George Stephanopoulos had a contentious interview with Vice President JD Vance. As streiff detailed in his report, the host was bothered by Vance's inability to be pinned down by his bitter questioning, and many in the press were heralding George for not allowing Vance to dodge his questions and ultimately cutting off the interview in mid-answer.

Vance had, in fact, been responding in kind, but Stephanopoulos did not like his answers to the negative. Can anybody explain how Vance was not addressing the issue, or lying about the details? Here are his responses prior to being cut off.

“Tom Homan did not take a bribe. It's a ridiculous smear.”

"George, this story has been covered ad nauseum. He did not take a bribe."

“There's absolutely no evidence that Tom Homan has ever taken a bribe, or done anything illegal.”

“Nobody has accused Tom of violating a crime, even the far-left media like yourself. So I'm actually not sure what the precise question is. Did he accept $50,000? Honestly, George, I don't know the answer to that question. What I do know is that he didn't violate a crime.”

When it comes to accusations of criminality, we all know the rules of the news media game by now.

For a Democrat: no evidence is ever sufficient, innocence is presumed, and the accuser's motives are suspect.

For a Republican: no evidence is required, guilt is assumed, and the accuser's motives are pure.
"If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people."    -Calvin Coolidge
