College fans rip 'worst punt world has ever seen' in Illinois versus Ohio State clash

College football fans ripped Illinois punter Keelan Crimmins on Saturday after a bizarre and disastrous mistake against Ohio State.

With the Fighting Illini down 10-0 to the Buckeyes and facing a 4th-and-7, they elected to punt from Ohio State's 48-yard-line in the second quarter.

However, what began as an attempt to pin the Buckeyes back ended in the complete opposite fashion, as Crimmins accidentally put his knee to the ground while fielding a low snap.

The punter was ruled down where his knee touched the field, meaning that Illinois actually lost 14 yards on the play.

And fans let him have it online after the blunder.

'In all of the years I have been watching football, I’ve never seen anyone do this,' one wrote on X.

Yeah but it's Ohio State. You might have lost 27-16 v. the 34-16 you did lose. Point being you still would have got clobbered.

I was just fascinated by the thing. Obviously it was a mistake but like the other guy said, I have never seen anything like that before. Never even occurred to me that it would happen.

Meh...I've seen a lot worse.  The punter didn't deserve all the abuse being hurled at him, especially since it really was the snapper's fault.
