Quote
The FBI has already terminated employees and abolished the CR-15 squad just one day after it was revealed that several Republicans’ private communications and phone calls had been tracked.

FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday announced the actions the bureau had taken in response to the revelation of the "baseless monitoring" during the Biden administration and promised more actions to come.

"We are cleaning up a diseased temple three decades in the making — identifying the rot, removing those who weaponized law enforcement for political purposes and those who do not meet the standards of this mission while restoring integrity to the FBI. I promised reform, and I intend to deliver it," Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Why did Patel wait until the Senator went public with this story before firing the agents involved, instead of firing them as soon as Patel learned of it?  Surely he knew about this before Sen. Grassley revealed it to the public?

I dunno, I think he already fired them before he told the Senators, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, and credit also for taking relatively swift action.

Because otherwise it would be treated as just more rank political revenge without adequate basis.

Because the reason is very damning, and the news of it before the firing gives it far greater impact.

They also won't file lawsuits or play it up in the media because they don't want anyone to dig deeper.
