House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Monday shared a chart showcasing in black and white what Democrats are demanding in order to reopen the government — taxpayer-funded health care for illegal aliens and $1.5 trillion in new partisan spending.

“Facts are stubborn things: Here are the differences between what Republicans passed out of the House and what Democrats are demanding in order to reopen the government,” Johnson wrote on social media, sharing a side-by-side chart showing the differences between what the Republicans in the House have passed and what Democrats are now demanding.

Republicans proposed a clean 7-week extension of current Biden-era spending levels with no new programs added or partisan spending demands. The chart notes that this plan “allows time for continued work on regular bipartisan appropriations, which is already underway.”

Conversely, Democrats’ “dirty” continuing resolution (CR) puts “illegal aliens and able-bodied adults back on free, American taxpayer-funded health care” and “sends half a billion dollars to left-wing media.”

Further it “repeals $50 billion investment in rural health care” and adds up to $1.5 trillion in new partisan spending.

Pretty sure we won't see this on CNN, PMSNBC, ABC, etc....

I asked Schumer if ACA subsidies were so critical why Democrats put an expiration date on them in the first place: “Well, this was passed a while ago, but we want to extend them. That's the point.”

Bc they were an extremely expensive giveaway to insurance companies to pay for rich people’s Obamacare, which would have been unpopular and we could barely get our own caucus on board, so we pretended they were temporary when we all knew we’d do this at expiration, which we set.

And the Pubs have already indicated they will cave on this with a one year extension. The Rats are not going to agree to a clean CR until they start feeling real pain.

Where are the cuts to personnel and dept.'s?

God didn't put an expiration on the 10 Commandments.

When you get a legislative win, why would you put an expiration date on it to hand the victory back to your opponents?

That's legislating instability and uncertainty.  Maybe chaos is the Dems' goal - to re-sell chaos to the unwashed masses as 'crisis' or 'emergency'.

Of course, the Dems characterize trying to extend a provision that was due to expire by law - by their law, as it turns out - anyway as essential to "saving healthcare." It has nothing to do with healthcare. Healthcare is still out there, available to all.

Dishonest, disingenuous and just plain disgusting.

Obamacare charges double for junk coverage. CBO: without Obamacare, most enrollees could buy "comprehensive major medical” with “lower deductibles or wider provider networks” at premiums “as much as 60% lower” than the lowest-price Obamacare plans.

Democrats’ latest shutdown stunt exposes the Obamacare fraud
Billions flow from taxpayers to insurance companies while families pay more for less care and shrinking doctor networks
 By Michael F. Cannon - Tuesday, October 7, 2025

OPINION:

For the second week in a row, Democrats are blocking roughly a quarter of federal spending, causing what Washington calls a government “shutdown,” unless Congress gives additional billions of taxpayer dollars to private health insurance companies via Obamacare. Republicans have never taken responsibility for Obamacare, and they should not start.

Obamacare offers junk insurance at outrageous premiums. In 2021, Democrats created temporary COVID-19 emergency premium subsidies for families earning $130,000 to $600,000 annually because even wealthy people struggle to afford Obamacare. These supposed “tax credits” are just checks the government sends to private health insurance companies. Thankfully, those temporary subsidies expire at the end of this year.

Democrats want to make those subsidies permanent because if they disappear, it would reveal that Obamacare’s excessive premiums and junk coverage are unpopular, as they have been from the beginning. ...

Remember back in 2010 when Republicans vowed to overturn Obamacare if the people gave them back control of the House?  I sure do.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

Yeah. One of the GOP's biggest failures.

They sold us out as soon as the insurance companies started contributing to their campaigns.

That would, I would note, be done mainly by allowing insurance companies to blackball the "uninsurable" (e.g. pre-existing conditions).

The fact of the matter is that our medical industrial complex costs too much money, an obscenely large amount of money, and it seems that the solution always seems to fall upon the working class who can't afford it being forced to buy into a system they won't use for decades. Instead of taking the medical industry to the cleaners for exploiting their patients.
