Slain student’s grieving dad vows action after repeat offender allegedly murdered daughter

A grieving father’s anguished words in Washington have put a spotlight on a tragedy that many Americans say reflects their worst fears: a justice system that repeatedly frees dangerous repeat offenders until it’s too late.

Stephen Federico’s daughter, Logan, 22, was murdered in her sleep in May while staying overnight at a friend’s house in Columbia, South Carolina. Police say the suspect, Alexander Devonte Dickey, 30, broke into the home, shot Logan, and then went on a shopping spree with her stolen credit and debit cards.
 
But what has shocked and outraged many is not only the brutality of the crime, but court documents revealing Dickey’s 39 arrests, and 25 felony charges before Logan’s murder. Yet he had spent barely 600 days in jail over the past decade.

"He should have been in jail for over 140 years for all of the crimes he committed," Federico told Fox News Digital. "He was committing 2.65 crimes a year since he was 15 years old. But nobody could figure out that he couldn’t be rehabilitated? Well, you’d have to put him in prison to see if he could be rehabilitated. Isn’t that the idea of prison?"

Perhaps he should have remained quiet, and endeavoured to take care of the situation... "privately"...

It is violence like this that requires our society to bring back capital punishment with a vengeance.

All the studies show that capital punishment is NOT a deterent.  And it is NOT with the way it is conducted.  The average person sits on death row for 24.5 years.  That is pure nonsense. 

You want capital punishment to be a deterent, force these dead from the neck up  worthless politicians to do the following:

1.  ESSENTIAL:  Make capital punishment PUBLIC.  Forget this nonsense of lethal injection.  Make it painful, but most
                         important, again make it PUBLIC.  Make it a memory in the mind of every person, but particularly for those
                         with a criminal mind

2.  TIMELINESS:  End the lengthy time before the punishment is executed.  Give the condemned two years to get an appeal,
                          and if one fails, on two years and a day, the condemned is executed...PUBLICLY.

3.  MAKE MORE CRIMES TO RECEIVE A CAPITAL PUNISHMENT OUTCOME

     Beside murder in the 1st degree, insure all the following if committed result in PUBLIC capital punishment:

     A.  All piracy events
     B.  All committing another crime that results in one or more people murdered, i.e. robbery, car highjacking, etc
     C.  All acts of rape of children age 12 and under, mandatory capital punishment
     D.  All acts of human trafficking, no exception, PUBLIC execution
     E.  All illicit drug distribution above a certain level (to be determined)  PUBLIC execution
     F.  All mass shootings of 2 or more people, PUBLIC execution
     G.  The murder of any law enforcement officer, PUBLIC execution

Anyone committing any of the above is just not needed in a society of 350+ million people, and growing.  Not a single one!!!  We have become stupid as a society, and weak.  Our desire to protect the violent criminal is totally irrational.  You want to put a real dent in violent crime, MAKE IT A TRUE DETERENT, then bring back capital punishment with a vengeance.  End the nonsense created by self centered attorneys looking to make more money, with not a care for justice.

Without a viable capital punishment policy for any of the above, we are a society without justice.  And nothing screams that more than the brutal murder of the young Ukrainian woman on a train in North Carolina and the brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk.  Both these assailants should receive a swift trial, and be brought to the executioner in two years or less, and not one day longer.  Failure for that to happen, and justice is a joke.  Particularly the violent murder of the Ukrainian woman, caught on video.  His trial and execution should be completed in months, not years.

A proposed Constitutional amendment (or clause in a "re-constituted" Constitution:

"This Constitution recognizes capital punishment to be an appropriate penalty pursuant to the due process of law.

As such, no Court of the United States, nor of the Several States, may declare the death penalty invalid under this Constitution, nor shall any of the Several States enact laws that do the same.

No person in the United States, nor in the several States, shall face capital punishment unless above the age of twelve years and six months."
