Zelensky says he asked Trump for possible war-winning weapon to target the Kremlin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he asked President Donald Trump for a mysterious, long-range weapon that could target the Kremlin in Moscow.

Zelensky shared in an interview with Axios that he personally asked Trump for an unnamed long-range weapon that he believed would bring Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table. He said that Ukraine would not target civilians, but that centers of power such as the Kremlin were now fair targets.

“They have to know where the bomb shelters are,” Zelensky said of Kremlin officials. “They need it. If they will not stop the war, they will need it in any case.”

“They have to know that we in Ukraine, each day, we will answer. If they attack us, we will answer them,” he added.

Trump answered ambiguously, Zelensky said, telling him, “We will work on it.”

Zelensky would not name the mysterious wonder weapon but was likely referring to the AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile—Extended Range, or JASSM-ER, the only U.S. missile that could reach Moscow from Ukraine, given Kyiv’s launching platforms. Even in this case, the missile is too large for the F-16, requiring F-35s or F-15E jets, neither of which Ukraine has.

This is my opinion is Z's problem, everything has to be this big, ham fisted, frontal attack wonder weapon. And how well did that work out for Hitler and the Nazis?

The dude is still a punk who wants to bar brawl and not a thinker. Russia's weakness is it's oil distribution network, and targeting it cheaply and efficiently with drones has worked well.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Gee, maybe they’ll eventually start attacking Russian oil assets.

Oh, wait, they are.  Zelenskyy is miles ahead of you, and a damn site better thinker, too.

Better investment would be leveling their entire petrochemical industry.  Z's showing juvenile emotion.

Uh yeah, after years of floundering old think. I actually pushed it here right on the forum after some initial success with drones. It took awhile for Z to catch up, if he actually has.

I don't think he's doing the strategy anymore.

Well, the Ukrainians are doing that...one refinery at a time!

Targeting the Kremlin would be a mistake.  It will unify the Russian people.  No, with what Putin did to his good friend Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner Group, who was marching on Moscow, and was stopped about 100 miles away from Moscow, the focus should be to target the entire metro area of Moscow.  Take out all steam generation capability, which they use to heat their homes, and destroy all transportation, their subway system, and all major roads leading in/out of metro Moscow.  And an important asset category, the three major airports in Moscow.  Destroy their runways.  And continue to take them out as they attempt to repair these assets.  Let the Moscovites freeze to death, starve to death.

How long will it take the locals to rise up and depose Putin?  I say two months.  Maybe three.

The people of Moscow are still living a rather comfortable life.  Freezing and starving them would change it all.  The boys dying in Ukraine are boys being recruited by Putin living in the small villages across Russia, not the folks in the big cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg.  The folks in the villages are lured by bonuses that Putin ends up not paying.  How long before the ire of these young men becomes strong enough to confront Putin?  Sadly most of them end up dead within a few days of entering the Ukrainian war, so they never collect a single ruble for their troubles.

That is why Moscow is the key.

Another consideration, the sites that broadcast the New Year celebration in Russia.    New Year's celebration is the most important holiday in Russia.  Hit those sites so that there is no New Year celebration, no broadcast of Putin at midnight with him ushering in the New Year.  That will send a message to all the Russian people.  NOTHING TO CELEBRATE!!!

Talk about a wake up call!

The Kremlin is a political/symbolic target.  Attacking the Kremlin would backfire and feed right into Putin's ultra-nationalist Russian propaganda.

Target their oil and natural gas facilities.

Target bridges on Ruskie supply routes.

Put craters in Ruskie airfield runways.

Target communications and electricty lines to Ruskie military bases and outposts.

Wars of attrition require re-supply.  Target the industries and targets vital to re-supply.

The Krauts made the mistake of switching from miltary and economic targets to political and symbollic targets in the Battle of Britain.

Sink ships in strategic shipping lanes to hamper maritime and naval activity.

Start using incendiary munitions - napalm (burn, suffocate),  daisy cutters (concusion, suffocate).

Supply the Ruskies with spiked alcohol - laxatives, ipecac, and anti-freeze.

Wars-of-attrition are the military application of economic advantages over the enemy.

Have intelligence services sabotage Russia's ghost fleet of oil tankers.
