Horde Of Thieves Ransack Jewelry Store. Police Swiftly Arrest Multiple Suspects
Story by Nathan Neuman • 16h
Seven suspects are in custody after about 20 masked thieves stormed a California jewelry store Monday, making off with an estimated $1 million in stolen goods.
Surveillance footage shows the mob rushing into Heller Jewelers at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, smashing display cases with crowbars and pickaxes before scooping up jewels, police said, according to ABC7 News. The crew fired shots to break through the security door and bolted toward six getaway cars parked in a nearby valet area.
“What ended up happening was, once the suspects went in, the door locked behind them,” Lt. Mike Pistello of the San Ramon Police Department said.
The thieves piled into six getaway cars staged in the valet area and sped off, police said. Officers chased, but San Ramon Police called off the pursuit after speeds topped 100 mph, citing public safety in a statement.
