Who Will Be The Charlie Kirk Who Can Save Our Big Cities?
I & I Editorial Board
September 16, 2025

It’s safe to say that no one knew the scope of Charlie Kirk’s influence until after his death. What he was able to achieve on college campuses has no parallel. This country desperately needs someone who will do the same in our big cities.

Charlie – we feel it’s more appropriate, more human to use his first name rather than his last last name, a traditional newspaper treatment that under the circumstances feels vulgar – was known for his argument that college was a scam.

But his real contribution was challenging students to cast off the conditioning that has been imposed on them by the smug, radical professors and administrators who have taken over the academy. Young people needed to hear what he had to say, and to hear the way he said it, and they responded in numbers and in ways few of us could have imagined.

Urban dwellers need to hear a similar message. Someone inspired by Charlie, someone of comparable intellectual nimbleness, affability and decency, ought to set up events in New York City’s Central Park, Los Angeles’ McArthur Park, Chicago’s Grant Park and other big city venues and have a conversation with the voters who keep putting Democrats in office – the political animals who are looking at the next election for the next highest office; who secure government contracts for a company owned by their brother-in-law who will kick back cash to elected officials; who care about political power and fame more than the health of their cities.

America’s great cities have been turned into death traps and decaying husks by Democratic administrations. They’ve been surrendered to vandals and looters, abandoned to lawless forces.

Democrats run their cities the same way they raised their children.

And the results are on full display.

Big Cities are on the wane.  Those that can flee, will flee.  The remainder will be dregs and limousine liberal parasites.

It's up to the residents of each city to take it back from the insanity of the left.  That's what happened in New York City in the early 1990s.

It's up to each city to identify its liberator among its citizens.

Giuliani was able to succeed because he was a city boy - an insider.

Each city has its own distinct history, culture, and values.  Things are said without being said or written.  Business is conducted with winks and with nods.  To walk among residents and earn their trust, a politician needs to understand the mores of the entire city, as well as those of each individual neighborhood or block.  Residents are loathe to trust or accept outsiders.  That's why they can seem hostile to those on the outside.  There is a large amount of tribalism because that's what was required for 1st generation immigrants to survive.  That passes down through the generations of long-time residents and of neighborhoods.

Eating pizza with a knife and fork is a tell.  I grew up close to the city and I none of relatives and neighbors used a fork and knife to eat pizza.  My wife's family, who is more suburban, eat pizza with knives forks.  To a city kid, that comes off as pretentious.

The Republican Party has much opportunity to recruit among city residents, but, they need Republicans from the city to canvass for new Republican voters.

There aren't too many residents who want higher taxes and more crime.  That crap comes from the limousine liberal pols with liberal agendas or corrupt politicians profiting from the criminals.

Josh Kraft lost the Boston mayoral primary because he was a carpetbagger - he was not a long-time resident of a Boston neighborhood.  He resided in a nearby suburb.  Kraft wasn't one of them (residents/voters); Wu was.

For the Republican Party to grow in urban areas, it needs to do so precinct by precinct, ward by ward - grow from the bottom up.
"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

Most of the big blue cities have no reasonable hope of recovery.

All you need to do is look at New York City -- which suffered the brunt of the September 11 muslim attacks -- and is now on the cusp of electing a radical muslim to be its next mayor.

Let me repeat what I said above:
Most of the big cities have no reasonable hope of recovery.

The only thing for white, traditional-minded people to do is... get OUT OF them.
As far away as possible.
