I don’t know if it’s so much racism as the entire societal problem of “don’t get involved!”
Remember even after the deed is done, you’re constantly told by authorities even, to “don’t attempt this on your own, call police” etc. you’re told to be a coward and a careless cold person. Because, you know, YOU MIGHT RISK YOURSELF! (Never mind they make YOU the criminal for daring to fight back on their protected class of thugs).
For a brief shining moment, after 9/11 (God bless us over that day), and during it, people acted as heroes. Remember the nut on the plane who attacked the cockpit door? People tried to stop it. Remember the shoe bomber? People called it out. I even recall a sexual assault here in Baltimore (Fells Point, hot night spot), attempted on some women and a whole passel of people came on the scum perp and assaulted HIM and he was caught and booked! My sis (RIP 9/8) stated, “people aren’t taking crap anymore”. That was December or so.
But it was too brief. For a bit, we got out of the “snivel” mode of how to prevent much less protect from imminent threats. But we’re back to running away and thinking only of ourselves.
