There is no limiting principle for those committed to taking from others what they have not earned themselves. Theft becomes its own justification, and also its own reward.
The actual pretense might be anything at all, and neither cause nor effect matter. As an example, look at how the fact of 19th Century American slavery is still used 160 years on, to justify unearned benefits paid from one class of people who never owned any slaves (nor did their grandfathers, or even great-grandfathers) in order to benefit another class of people who were never themselves slaves, or (in most cases) ever had a slave in their own ancestral families.
With the "global warming"/climate change environmental grift, "facts" are commonly cherry-picked as needed to "prove" whatever is required to keep the scam going. Further, "X' or "Y" may not only be claimed at random to cause global warming, but just as easily: global warming will be claimed to
cause "X" or "Y". And, as we have learned, anyone who dares to point out the illogical or deceptive trickery involved is tagged as a "denier" or as being "anti-science", so that questions may be made to stop and the flow of OPM (other people's money) may thus continue.
