Had to write my own headline, as this info is gleaned from X posts (the cited source apparently was a podcast).

A chemical known to cause BRAIN DAMAGE in children is being pushed back onto your dinner plate. And Congress is quietly trying to make it IMPOSSIBLE to sue them.

1/ The BAN That Wasn't: After a long fight, the EPA finally banned Chlorpyrifos in 2021. This insecticide, used on common foods like apples, broccoli, and soybeans, is proven to cross the placenta, concentrating in the fetal brain at levels 4x higher than the mother's.

2/ The Proof: A landmark longitudinal study from Columbia University, published in JAMA Neurology, found prenatal exposure causes:
• Altered development of gray & white matter
• Increased myelination of the internal capsule
• "Profoundly impaired neuronal metabolism"
• Poor motor performance
This is physical, MRI-confirmed brain damage. Not anecdotal.

3/ The Betrayal: In 2023, a U.S. Court of Appeals OVERTURNED the EPA's ban. The chemical is now back on crops in many states. While places like CA & NY have state bans, the federal protection is GONE.

4/ The Cover-Up: Now, it gets even darker. Buried in the House Appropriations Bill (Section 453) is a clause that DEFUNDS the government's ability to update warning labels on pesticides and herbicides. ...

Well, the right did want to "burn it all down" - that'll include pesticide warnings as well as covid-19 mandates.

I'm unaware of any among us on the right who support dangerous pesticides. Live and learn, I guess.

More analysis at Food Safety News, from 8/27/25.

I'm sure that nobody here does; but that doesn't mean that this is not what's happening.  It's an example of the law of unintended consequences.  "Burn it down" sounds great when it comes to the worst excesses of the CDC; but in practice, it is a very blunt instrument of policy that throws out an awful lot of babies with the dirty bathwater.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Similar to yanking your kids out of public school and homeschooling them, I recommend growing your own food so you know where it came from and how it was grown.

I think you misunderstand the right's position.

What babies are or would be thrown out with what bathwater here  pointing-up ?

I believe we simply want the government agency tasked with protecting Americans' health and safety to do its job - and that includes not giving chemical companies free rein to poison our food supply.

The problem here is that Congress is going beyond a laissez-faire attitude toward pesticide regulation, which some on the right might well approve.  It is interfering with the normal course of tort law in which if a product harms someone the maker can be sued for damages.

There may well be sentiment on the right in favor of burning down Federal overreach in the regulatory realm, but this is burning down not Federal regulation, but the common law right to sue for damages.  There are rare circumstances in which a public good (as distinguished from the good of a few companies' bottom lines) is served by curtailing the right to sue for damages, but this is not one of them.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Anyone who wants to go back to pre-FDA era common law torts is, pardon the foul language, a bleep idiot.

An idea just struck me...how about we stop accusing people of things we know they don't really believe, and agree on what's wrong and what needs do be done?  Assume we have a new crew at HHS under RFK, not tied down by "how things have always been done," and go from there?

Maybe I am asking too much....
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
