Illegal Immigrant Charged with Alleged Assault
Department of Homeland Security agents and federal prosecutors have alleged that illegal immigrant Rolando Nava Pacheco rammed a truck into an agent and government vehicles during an immigration operation. Federal prosecutors charged Pacheco with assault on a federal officer resulting in bodily injury and destruction of federal property. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials emphasized their commitment to public safety, while Homeland Security investigators noted a zero tolerance policy toward violence against officers.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that agents identified themselves during an August operation before Pacheco allegedly tried to flee in a white truck. A pursuing agent reportedly attempted to block the path, and the truck allegedly hit a government vehicle head-on.
The DOJ stated, “As the white truck recklessly tried to flee the area, a federal agent driving a government vehicle attempted to block the path of the white truck.”
ICE stated that Pacheco faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines if convicted. San Diego Field Office Director Patrick Divver noted that officers are committed to public safety.
