At least seven people have been killed and 37 others injured in shootings in Chicago this Labor Day weekend, even as the city's mayor vows to block President Donald Trump's efforts to combat crime.

This weekend's shootings took place at a series of unrelated incidents across Chicago, with the majority of instances resulting in no one being taken into custody, police say. Trump has suggested he may deploy the National Guard and other federal law enforcement to combat crime in the city.
 
The victims of fatal shootings so far this weekend include at least two women and three men, as well as two others police have not specified. Authorities have not released the names of the deceased.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on Saturday prohibiting local police from working with their federal counterparts.

What kind of "response?"  Order the State Police to open fire on the National Guard?

It's strange that these governors and mayors think that somehow the can somehow block or hinder federal agents operating in their states and cities.

LOL!  It is silly...and sad to see them rush to the 20% side on the cities' increasing crime rate.

Not trick questions. 

1) What do you think about cities contracting out to ready, willing and certainly "able" ex special forces, Marines, Rangers, etc., to become "Charley Bronsons"? 

2) Considering the personal risks, what would be a high enough salary for the typical qualified candidate under present conditions (murders per 100K ppl)?

Not a fan of hiring mercenaries or vigilantes to do genuine law enforcement work.  I believe in duly sworn peace officers, state police, and yes, National Guardsmen, operating under state and federal law to do that, with complete accountability by civilian authority.  The real problem here is the feckless, partisan, and corrupt politicians, DAs, and judges who refuse to do their jobs and get the violent trash off the streets.
