If you ever wondered what happens when a pampered socialist steps into the real world, New York just gave us the perfect answer.

NYC mayoral frontrunner and self-proclaimed Socialist Democrat Zohran Mamdani tried to impress a crowd at the Men’s Day open streets event in Brooklyn this weekend. Instead, he delivered one of the most unintentionally hilarious campaign bloopers in recent memory.

Mamdani, 33, climbed under the bench press bar loaded with a modest 135 pounds—a weight most high school athletes can rep with ease. What followed was pure comedy. The would-be mayor couldn’t even get the bar off the rack without help. With a crowd watching, he strained and shook as a spotter all but carried the load for him through two embarrassing “reps.”





Most males hit this weight before the age of 15.

Zohran not benching 135 isn’t a huge deal. I actually served with a few Marines who couldn’t do that and we never gave them a hard time. We didn’t want them worrying during pregnancy and we knew they’d get strong again after coming back from maternity leave.
