Liberal white woman slammed by both sides of the aisle for touting 'extremely racist sign' at Black

A liberal protester targeting Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears with a racist sign has gone viral and caused confusion over her intentions.

Earle-Sears, the Republican nominee in the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial election, attended an Arlington County School Board meeting where she spoke out against a policy that allows transgender students to use girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms.

The meeting occurred as a result of a threat by the Department of Education to cut off federal funding from the school district over its bathroom policy.

One of the protesters, an unidentified elderly liberal white woman, could be seen holding a sign targeting Earle-Sears by comparing black Americans being forced to use water fountains to the transgender bathroom debate.

‘Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then Blacks can’t share my water fountain,’ the sign reads.

As the picture - captured by Virginia journalist Brandon Jarvis - went viral. And statements from Virginia leaders in both parties rushed to condemn the protester.

The woman has been identified as Anita Martineau, of Arlington, Va a professional Northern Virginia protester.

Her organization "We of Action" has been door knocking and campaigning for Democrat Gubernatorial candidate Abbigail Spanberger.


When the head of the Northern Virginia Democrats told her that her sign was going national in a negative way...she's on camera shrugging at the news.


The Virginia Democrat Party's X account had a post mocking Republicans for highlighting this latest piece of Leftist racism.

Virginia Democrats just added some racist flare to the governor race.

The crazy woman with the sign trying to score a nescient racist point against Republican candidate Winsome Sears is a door knocker for the Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger.

For Democrats, racism is naturally acceptable when it’s aimed at conservative black folks.
I find this local BLM account’s outrage and surprise rather interesting.

I saw the one holding up the sign regarding trans bathrooms and blacks using drinking fountains a few days ago,  and several days later, still have no idea what she meant by that
