Bed, Bath & Beyond refuses to open California stores

Marcus Lemonis, the executive chairman of Bed Bath & Beyond, says his company won't open any stores in California - and he wants Governor Gavin Newsom out of office. In a comment to the Daily Mail, Newsom offered a major clap-back.

Oh my, a company that is circling the toilet bowl of bankruptcy won’t open a California store? How will we ever survive?

Try to keep up. BB&B already went through bankruptcy and a new group of investors bought it out and are working to re-establish the brand.

And they are smart enough to not waste their time opening retail stores in California just so mobs of shoplifters can pillage them.

As if California is only state where low lives strip store shelves bare

I remember BB&B well, I remember them closing the local stores, and I remember that nothing actually changed except for one more useless store being gone, the most time I ever spent in one was using it as a short cut into the Buena Park mall, excuse me, Buena Park Downtown, which is another dying useless edifice which like almost all covered malls is dying…..as it should.

I'm from California. I still own substantial property there. I left the state and took my business with me. The state is a trainwreck on many fronts. From regulation, crime, energy costs to taxes. Many other states have their problems, but most pale compared to California. Those who stay there and are productive are being bled dry of their future.

AFAIK, the two BB&B stores that were near me never had a shoplifting problem. One is still empty, despite being in a decent location (City of Campbell). The other is now a Hobby Lobby (west San Jose).
I am not and never have been a leftist.

When my husband died two years ago he left us with an apartment complex in Palm Springs. Can't even begin to describe what a s#itshow it was to sell it. So glad to be 100% DONE with California!
