The irony of this being published in New York is priceless.
The store became a hotbed of violence and theft. One of the reasons it closed (other than no money) was that it became "unsafe" for staff and customers. It was much more of a free-for-all looting of a State sponsored foodbank than is was any kind of commercial enterprise.
There was always a crowd waiting for them to open and they rioted to get in. It was a dangerous place to be.
