How Shapiro’s dangerous legal battle could end his political career

Looking back on a failed political career, it is often difficult to pinpoint the exact instant when everything fell apart.

But the moment Josh Shapiro joined a lawsuit to reinstate sex change procedures for children may be judged by history as his final swan dive.

Last week, the Governor of Pennsylvania, in his official capacity, aligned with fifteen Democratic or Democratic-leaning states and the District of Columbia in an attempt to block the Trump administration’s order to end gender-affirming medical interventions for minors. He is the only Governor to sign on to the suit — the other states are represented by their Attorneys General.

The lawsuit alleges that “the Trump administration has sought to deny their [transgender] very existence, banish transgender residents from the public square, and refuse them medically necessary healthcare through unlawful Executive Orders (EOs) and a raft of federal agency actions implementing those EOs.”

Shapiro likes to pretend he’s a moderate, but make no mistake: he is a hard-core progressive — and joining this lawsuit proves it.

Even in his comments reported by the Delaware Valley Journal, Shapiro attempted to frame the legal action in defense of parental and medical freedom rights.  ...

Gov Shapiro just hammered the final nail in his political coffin.  He is finished. 

I consider those involved in this to be the worst kind of child abusers.  John Hopkins, a totally hypocritical organization, possessing zero credibility, a leader in sex reassignment surgery halted it for a time, recognizing correctly that those suffering from gender dysphoria are suffering a mental disorder.  The fact they recognized the truth about the matter shows just how corrupt AMA medicine is in practice.  IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.   PERIOD!!!!!!!!!

And seriously, how smart is Shapiro to believe he would ever have a chance at POTUS in the USA being a Jew?  There are too many people in the USA that hate Jewish people, he would be a 1 percenter!!!!!

Living in Pennsylvania, I disagree with all of this.  Compared to the Communist Tom Wolf before him, Shapiro is a moderate and keeps a fairly low profile, and doesn't make very many mistakes.  He may have screwed up on this though, because he's trying to suck up to the hard core libs for 2028, but this will not finish him, not by a longshot. 

He's a shoe-in for re-election in 2026 because the Republicans here are all backstabbing morons and can't get their collective act together.  And IF the Democrat Party, and that's a big IF, can get past all this antisemitism that's emerging from its  Communist base, then he is very much a threat for 2028.  Shapiro's a very smart guy, and it would be foolish to disregard or write him off in terms of his future political career.  At the very least he will likely succeed John Fetterman.

Living near Pa., I tend to agree with you. This isn't fatal for Shapiro - who certainly is no Wolf - but support for mutilating children is a bonehead move.
