Floridians, y'all are living on borrowed time!

Any day now, Florida. Dan Rather said so. In 1982. You gotta wonder if they're wish they'd built in more padding in their timeline.  *****rollingeyes***** The future got here too fast for them.  :laughingdog:

1982. The scam was in full force.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

In 1981, I was an intern for one of the congressional caucuses (or is that cockeye?) on Capitol Hill, doing research on acid rain.
To date, the planet has survived said rain.

So tell me... Any of y'all living on the coasts. Has the water come up at all since you've been alive?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Actually…
Newsweek published an article titled "The Cooling World" on April 28, 1975, discussing a supposed trend of global cooling and its potential impacts.

To date, the planet has survived said rain.

Actually, they cut emissions of SO2 significantly by requiring scrubbers on coal plants and changing the amount of sulphur allowed in jet fuel, thereby (1) getting rid of acid rain and (2) decreasing cloud formation, which is probably the actual cause of a lot of the warming since then, rather than CO2 emissions.

And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

About 8 inches since 1950, and something similar is in the works for the next 40 years.  There is evidence behind the greenhouse effect, but it's wildly exaggerated by special interest groups.

Wow if only Reagen hadn't cut that budget in 1982, we'd be living in a virtual ice box by now!

It's cyclical. Hang around for a few hundred years and let us know what happens.

Is it in fact rising water or is it subduction, or the land settling?

The reason I ask is that I have a friend who lives down on the mississippi delta... He's watched those tidal flats for all his life, And says it ain't raised even at all. High tide is still in the same place, and so is low.

Now, that is the delta, and not the ocean proper. But if the ocean is 8" higher, you would expect the delta to be too.
