Ken Paxton asks for rehearing from full federal appeals court on Texas immigration law

The Brief
Ken Paxton is asked for an en banc, or full court, hearing after a federal appeals court blocked a 2023 law that allows local police to arrest people they believe crossed the border illegally.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld an early ruling blocking the law in July.
Paxton said the ruling is not in line with precedent set by the U.S. Supreme Court.

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is asking a full federal appeals court to reconsider its decision to uphold a ruling that prevents the state from enforcing a 2023 law that would allow local police to arrest people they believe crossed the Texas-Mexico border illegally.

"Radical open border activists have sought to undermine Texas’s right to defend itself, but I will never stop fighting to close the border and equip state law enforcement with the power to ensure border security," Paxton said.

By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell - and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed.

The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.

Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
