LGBTQ rights group Human Rights Campaign launches tour through mostly red states
The multicity “American Dreams Tour” will focus on telling the stories of queer people in the hopes of changing hearts and minds during a precarious time for LGBTQ rights.

By Brooke Sopelsa NBC News

The Human Rights Campaign, the country’s largest LGBTQ rights organization, is taking its LGBTQ equality message on the road with a multicity tour focused on changing more hearts and minds, particularly in red states.

The “American Dreams Tour” will kick off Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, and travel to cities in predominantly Republican-led states through November. The tour’s goal, according to HRC, is to amplify LGBTQ people’s stories “at a time of rising political attacks and cultural erasure” and “celebrate the communities pushing back against hate and fighting for a future of equality for all.”

“For half a century, our movement has changed hearts and minds with our stories — Harvey Milk in the Castro, Pedro Zamora on the Real World, trans youth and parents coming forward in statehouses across the country. When people know who we really are, everything changes. This tour is about reclaiming that legacy,” Kelley Robinson, president of the Human Rights Campaign, said in a statement.   ...

The tour will “anchor” in six major cities — Columbus; Las Vegas; Washington, D.C.; Dallas; Atlanta; and Nashville, Tennessee — with other stops to be announced in the coming weeks, according to HRC. ...
Harvey Milk? The pedophile Harvey Milk is their hero? No surprise there.

I'm sure they'll find a receptive audience for sterilizing and mutilating children and demanding boys be allowed to play girls' sports in <checks notes> Ohio, Texas, and Tennessee.

LOL...those are hardly "red" cities.  If they had any real guts they'd visit small towns in the heartland of America.  But they don't and won't.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
They're still cities. Give me a break.

They might be coming to red states...but they aren't going to venture outside of the deep blue cities within those states.

Right?  That was my first thought, too.  Talk about not being able to read the room.

These days, every group needs to feel 'special' and 'heard', but nobody wants to listen.

That is true.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Like Vegas and Nashville...they won't be in Laughlin (Clark County, NV).

I agree. I don't expect much of this in areas where every kid knows cutting the balls off a bull will not give you a cow. That crowd is seeking approval and agreement and will stick to large enough populations that 1-2% can fill the room.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
