Imam Muamar Dahnoun said in a Friday sermon on July 11, 2025, at the Islamic Association of Raleigh, North Carolina, that Gaza "took upon itself" to be the face of the Islamic nation. He emphasized the importance of placing Islamic identity above one's own life and existence on earth. Dahnoun said that the people of Palestine chose to put the Al‑Aqsa Mosque and their Islamic identity first, despite the difficulty of going up against the world's legitimization of the Israeli occupation. He described them as warriors and "saviors" of the Islamic nation. He also said that the superpowers are waging a war against Islam, including in schoolbooks, in the modesty of Muslim daughters, and in the manhood of Muslim sons.
