Mamdani and Bragg’s NYC: Refuge for Migrant Recidivists

Zohran Mamdani, the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist and Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, criticized the Trump administration for “breaking up families and spreading fear in our neighborhoods.”

Two days later, two migrants shot an off-duty Border Patrol officer in an attempted robbery.

The perpetrators arrived in New York during the Biden administration – 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora-Nunez was vetted only on a Zoom call before he was released into the interior. He would go on to commit felony grand larceny, reckless driving, and second- and third-degree assault.

The New York Police Department cuffed his accomplice – Cristhian Aybar-Berroa – eight times before the shooting. He was released every time despite repeated arrests – a consequence of New York’s 2019 bail reform laws and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s dereliction of duty.

“Our government teaches the whole people by its example. If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.” Louis D. Brandeis
