To trigger an overt NATO response that crosses over into Russian/Belarus territory so that Putin can claim that NATO is attacking Russia to rally the populace around him and his continued war on Ukraine. Most likely it indicates that he is at serious risk of losing internal support and rivals are beginning to come out of the woodwork.

People are only part of Putin's problem. He doesn't have the industrial/economic power to sufficiently arm them.

What action would you advise?  What NATO should be doing is arming Ukraine to the teeth with everything it needs.  In the meantime, until Russia actually causes serious damage on the territory of a NATO member, its attempts to provoke a response should be ignored.


What Putin wants is a NATO - preferably U.S. led - incursion into Belarus or Russia.  That will allow him to galvanize all of Russian society and industry to “the Cause” and will get allies like NK, India, Iran, and even China, feeding him war materiel. 


The drones that entered Polish airspace were apparently duds.  Which clearly indicates that he is trying to provoke a response from NATO, not actually attempting to attack a NATO member.

Well almost everything it needs ... except the things it really needs like more Patriot systems and Taurus missiles, while being allowed to use ATACMS to go their full range; the last would require 47 to want Ukraine to defeat Russia - which, from his recent comment above, he does not - he seems firmly in Putin's camp - he's just a bit disappointed Dear Vlad is not more amenable to stopping his war.
