Everyone with blue eyes inherited a tiny genetic "switch" that dilutes brown pigment in the iris. This mutation, found in all blue-eyed people, emerged 6,000–10,000 years ago, meaning they all share one common ancestor.

"Originally, we all had brown eyes," said Professor Hans Eiberg from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. "But a genetic mutation affecting the OCA2 gene in our chromosomes resulted in the creation of a "switch," which literally "turned off" the ability to produce brown eyes." The OCA2 gene codes for the so-called P protein, which is involved in the production of melanin, the pigment that gives color to our hair, eyes and skin. 1. Of the visible spectrum of light provided by our sun, which gave us vision enabling us to create artificial sources of light,
2.  Of the optical clarity of vacuum, air, and water, enabling our vitreous humor to transmit photons, which
3.  Cause electrical impulses when impinging on our retinas, which
4.  Collect millions of points of data, faithfully transmitted electronically by our optic nerves to our brains, and
5.  The fact that photons are only slowed down by passing through a clear medium such as water, glass, plastic, or air all of which bend the
light.  No bending, no eyesight worth having.  Illuminating a spotlight on a space ship hurtling at half the speed of light has no effect on the light no matter which way you point the spotlight. It's all c in every direction, forward or backward.

One cubic mile of air at sea level (1 x 1 x 1) weighs 5.6 million tons.
Most people guess "zero," claiming that air is weightless.  If that were true, nothing could fly.
All flight is only possible by pushing down an equal weight of air, which is dependent on altitude, then atmospheric pressure, then humidity.

Standard pressure is defined as 14.7 pounds per square inch.
In college, I was an experienced scuba diver and cleaned the university pool bottom with scuba gear.  Once out of curiosity, I extended a flexible snorkel in deep water and attempted to breathe with my head only 2 feet beneath the surface.  Impossible!  And I was in top physical condition.

 
Thirty-three feet of water equals 14.7 PSI, and each subsequent 33 feet adds another 14.7 PSI because water is virtually incompressible.

(Calculations done here for the first time, as an afterthought.   Lungs roughly 12 inches across and 10 inches top to diaphragm.  One hundred twenty square inches.  Water pressure equals 3 feet/33 feet x 14.7 PSI equals about 1.6 psi.   So one hundred ninety-six pounds of water pressure prevented me from inhaling.)

National Geographic Magazine has approximately 10,000,000 readers monthly.  I wrote to them in August, 1991, pointing out that they had printed a photograph of Lehman Caves upside down!  Nat Geo acknowledged their error in a letter to me, and as far as I know, I am the only reader in 10,000,000 who noticed this.  Drips going up near the top center of the page are what tipped me off.
