Chip Gaines Smears ‘Modern American Christians’ as Judgmental, Close-Minded, Hateful

HGTV star Chip Gaines is pushing back against a backlash after he and his wife Joanna featured a same-sex couple on their new series, Back to the Frontier.

Chip and his wife have created a TV empire by presenting themselves as devout Christians and built an audience of faith-based fans, but the inclusion of the gay couple in their new series has shocked that fan base. And many have expressed their dismay in social media posts.

Many fans are upset that Gaines is attempting to normalize the idea of gay men adopting children. Indeed, the gay couple featured on the show celebrated their participation for just that reason: the normalization of their proclivities.

Joe Riggs and Jason Hanna told the Dallas Morning News they felt the show was an “opportunity to put ourselves out there and help normalize families like ours.” And in an Instagram post, Hanna added that “representation matters deeply — especially for those who are still finding the courage to live their truth.”

“When families like ours are visible, it opens doors for others to feel safe, loved, and validated. Visibility isn’t just about being seen; it’s about making sure no one feels alone,” he insisted.

Chip Gaines was inundated with complaints from fans. He responded by scolding them for being intolerant.

“Talk, ask [questions], listen.. maybe even learn. Too much to ask of modern American Christian culture. Judge 1st, understand later/never,” he wrote. “It’s a sad Sunday when ‘non believers’ have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian.”

Christians are repeatedly told to "Judge Rightly" and use "discernment". Some things take a bit to judge, some things like he is peddling don't.

Funny the "judging" part on Chip's behalf seems to have eluded his own radar. False teachers are one of the first things Christians are warned to be on the lookout for.

Maybe they need to hear the truth. God’s Truth.

They sold out to Warner Bros. Discovery years ago. They'll last as long as WBD lasts, and to be quite frank, that company isn't exactly swimming in cash right now.

In the last week, two significant events have highlighted the stark contrast between cultural and biblical Christianity.

The matters involved two well-known professing Christian men, Chip Gaines and John MacArthur, through whom the church can learn an important lesson about what it means to follow Christ. In contrasting these two men, Christians can see there is a genuine difference between merely professing to follow Christ and being humbly submitted to Christ as Lord and Savior. One man appears to have attached Christ to himself as a decoration to his celebrity status, while the other built his entire life around serving and proclaiming Christ as Lord. Christians should look at these differences as an important life lesson in what it means to count the cost of following Christ.  ...

Gaines demonstrated he had little concern for the biblical questions and reproofs being brought before him. His attitude appeared flippant and unconcerned about the unbiblical nature of their normalizing and affirming sexual depravity on their program.

This is the fruit of the modern evangelical practice of cultural Christianity. Rather than seeking to conform itself to Christ, this practice encourages people to be followers of Christ with little to no call for obedience to His commandments.  ...
