Did Adam Schiff Commit Mortgage Fraud?
Katie Pavlich
3–4 minutes

Posting on Truth Social Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump accused California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff of committing mortgage fraud.

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Shiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud. Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA," Trump said.

"I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice," he continued.

Last year Schiff was hit with an ethics complaint over allegations he committed mortgage fraud.

For more than a decade, California Senate hopeful Rep. Adam Schiff has claimed his primary residence is a 3,420 square foot home he owns in Maryland, according to a review of mortgage records.

At the same time, Schiff, a Democrat, has for years taken a homeowner’s tax exemption on a much smaller 650 square foot condo he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a reduction in his tax bill of $7,000. He did not take an exemption on his home in Maryland.

While Schiff has signed documents asserting both the Maryland property and the significantly smaller Burbank condo as his primary residences, tax records indicate that he paid his California property taxes in 2017 with a check featuring his Maryland address – the only year he paid with a personal check. And a review of past comments, pictures shared on his public social media, and records indicate Schiff makes his full-time home in Maryland.

Schiff has been a longtime opponent of Trump. He abused his position as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to proliferate the Russian hoax and launch impeachments during the President's first White House term.

Mitt Romney and Bush '41 had the same problem ... what state is he really from?

If Maryland is his 'primary' residence, I don't see how he can be Senator from California.

Also, if Maryland is not his 'primary' residence, but he said it was on the mortgage, that's mortgage fraud.

Is it legal for him to have more than 1 'primary residence' for purposes of mortgage financing and property taxes?

Schiff has been Barney Frank-ed.

A stern letter will be filed in his permanent record.

Not likely...given what they did to him in the courts during Biden's regime.

IRONIC is the word that comes to mind...catching Letitia James AND Adam Schiff both committing mortgage fraud.

God certainly has a sense of humor at times.

Trump urges 'justice' for Schiff after Fannie Mae identifies possible mortgage fraud

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist," he said.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged "justice" for Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., after Fannie Mae's Financial Crimes Division concluded that he engaged in a sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud.

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA," he added. "I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice."

Fannie Mae has not issued a public statement as of press time. Trump's announcement follows similar allegations against New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Just the News, last year, reported that Schiff had cited two residences, one in California and one in Maryland, as his "principal residence."

Trump accuses 'scam artist' Schiff of lying about Maryland home to commit mortgage fraud
Schiff called Trump's allegations a 'baseless attempt at political retribution'

President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Tuesday morning, amplifying 2024 claims that Schiff committed mortgage fraud by lying about his primary residence for over a decade, which the senator denies.

Trump, in a Truth Social post, labeled Schiff a "scam artist" and claimed he obtained a mortgage for a residence in Maryland in 2009 but only designated it as a second home in 2020 as part of a ruse to snag better rates and terms from the company, which has been in federal conservatorship since the 2008 financial crisis.

The president said Fannie Mae's Financial Crimes Division had uncovered the alleged fraud. Schiff obtained the Maryland property in 2009 while he was a congressman and became a senator in January. Schiff called the accusations "baseless."

"I have always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud," Trump wrote.

"Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA. I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook. The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020."

"Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice."

Trump did not provide any evidence of the alleged fraud.

When asked about the accusations later on Tuesday, Trump appeared to soften on the specific accusation.

"I don't know about the individual charge, if that even happened, but Adam Schiff is a serious lowlife," Trump said.

"When you said that you want Adam Schiff brought to justice, what does that mean?" Fox News' Peter Doocy asked, to which Trump said: "I'd love to see him brought to justice."

Is this what NY's attorney general did? There was something hinky about her and a Maryland mortgage, wasn't there?

Schiffty blames Trump:

@SenAdamSchiff
Since I led his first impeachment, Trump has repeatedly called for me to be arrested for treason.
So in a way, I guess this is a bit of a letdown.
And this baseless attempt at political retribution won’t stop me from holding him accountable.
Not by a long shot.

Adam Schiff
@SenAdamSchiff
This is just Donald Trump’s latest attempt at political retaliation against his perceived enemies.
So it is not a surprise, only how weak this false allegation turns out to be.
And much as Trump may hope, this smear will not distract from his Epstein files problem.

But a Republican congressional candidate says it's not Trump's doing:

Senator Schiff, let’s be clear: this complaint did not begin with President Trump, nor is it about political retribution.

I authored the complaint, compiled the evidence, and firmly believe your actions amount to violations of mortgage law, insurance fraud, tax infractions, and misrepresentation under state and federal election statutes.

You continue to frame this as partisan theatrics, but the facts speak for themselves. This is about accountability under the law—no one, not even a sitting U.S. Senator, is above it.

Despite President Trump’s repeated calls to “bring you to justice,” I won’t be deterred. The accusations are serious, the evidence is credible, and I will ensure this moves forward—not because of who you are, but because of what the facts reveal.
