The Panic of Biden Aides and What They Did When a Reporter Managed to Call Joe Directly

How much were his people trying to hide Joe Biden's situation from the public?
A new account from the recently released book "2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America" reveals just how dire the situation was.
The authors spoke to President Donald Trump for the book, and they wanted to interview Joe Biden. However, his aides said that he was working on his memoir, which would conflict.
That sounds like a complete deflection so they could avoid having him interviewed. But one of the authors, Tyler Pager, reached out to Biden on his private phone, and Biden agreed to talk with him.

Biden told Pager he had a "very negative" view of President Donald Trump’s second term and didn’t "see anything he’s done that’s been productive." He also said he didn't regret dropping out of the 2024 race.
"No, not now. I don’t spend a lot of time on regrets," he told Pager before hanging up to get on the train.
However, the Biden staff freakout was huge. One of them screamed at Pager for calling Biden directly. Others "texted furiously" trying to figure out how he got Biden's number.
Although Biden had indicated he was open to being contacted for further discussion, when Pager then tried to contact him, the calls went straight to voicemail. Then two days later, Pager got, "The number you have dialed has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service."
Pager recounted the "freaking out" to podcaster Kara Swisher on Monday. Swisher concluded, "This is why they lost."
Even former CNN employee Chris Cillizza understood the problem here: "The Biden inner circle simply believes that Biden himself is no longer to be trusted in any sort of non-staged interaction."
