What Trump’s order on ‘unleashing American drone dominance’ means for the U.S. military

While the Trump administration’s recently-issued executive order on “Unleashing American Drone Dominance” places a sharp focus on civilian use of unmanned aircraft, the new policy also includes multiple provisions that could have implications for Pentagon and military personnel.

“The Department of Defense must be able to procure, integrate, and train using low-cost, high-performing drones manufactured in the United States,” President Donald Trump wrote in the directive.

This new EO comes at a time when autonomous systems are increasingly proving to be game-changing on contemporary battlefields. Yet despite major investments, all of America’s military services are confronting serious challenges in adopting and deploying different-sized and affordable drones for widespread use.

Dominance means US factories each able to churn out over 10,000 drones a month, just to keep even with the competition. No more of the million-dollar drones with bells and whistles.

The Ukraine war is redefining ground battle strategies and assets completely.  I think what this war is showing is that the need for robotic field attackers is a component that will get accelerated.  The human being on the battle field is completely vulnerable with drones, so humans are now obsolete.

Watch for robotic ground fighters to progress at lightning speed.

The coming of Cyberdyne as characterized in the Terminator series is no longer fiction, it is a necessity.  The problem is where do humans fit?  They don't, so the storyline in the Terminator series, I can see that happening in the next 50 years or less.

I do hope that the order also directs equal amounts of effort toward combatting drones launched against us.

There are very limited ways right now one of our ships or missile sites can take on 10,000 drones attacking at the same time.
