Mercedes Bolden of Hillsboro had to give birth to her son on a sidewalk.
Bolden was just feet away from a birth center when she gave birth.
Her contractions went from being eight minutes apart to four minutes apart.
Bolden and her husband drove to the Alabama Birth Center in Huntsville, but her son decided to make an early appearance!
“As soon as I got there, I had to get on the ground because he was coming out of there,” said Bolden.
Bolden had no time to rush inside.
“He was going out there, he wouldn’t wait for nothing,” said Bolden.
Bolden had to lie down on the ground and give birth with the help of midwives right on the sidewalk.
Bolden said that as she was giving birth to her son, she was worried that other people could see her giving birth.
“They probably heard me screaming,” said Bolden. “It was definitely a wild experience.”
Luckily, it was a quick process.
She only had to push twice, and her son Ivan William Bolden was born.“It went by really, really quickly, so I didn’t have time to freak out about the pain or anything,” said Bolden. . .
