Diddy jury begins deliberations in sex trafficking, racketeering trial

Legal experts warn of complex jury instructions as deliberations in the Diddy trial began Monday in Manhattan federal court

Jurors in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial began deliberations Monday.

A 12-person jury comprised of eight men and four women will make the decision on whether to convict Diddy of federal crimes or let the fallen music mogul walk free following a seven-week trial.

The jury was sent to deliberate around 11:30 am ET by Judge Arun Subramnian after lengthy instructions. Authorities charged Diddy with racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Jurors in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial began deliberations Monday.

The jury sent two notes to the court throughout the five and a half hours of deliberations. Right before the end of the court day, the jury asked for clarification regarding the alleged distribution of drugs. "If a recipient asks for a controlled substance, and another person hands it over to them, are they distributing?" The judge told the court that the jury would be given an answer on Tuesday.

The first note from the jury claimed one juror could not follow Judge Arun Subramanian's instructions. The issue during the first day of deliberations could signal a "stealth juror" leading to the possibility of jury nullification, a legal expert told Fox News Digital.

"A juror who ‘cannot follow your honor’s instructions’ is a potential stealth juror and we’re looking at the possibility of jury nullification," former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News Digital. "Judge Subramanian can admonish the juror, but if they still refuse to follow instructions, his only real options are to dismiss the juror under Rules 23 and 24 and replace them with an alternate, but that will create an appellate issue, or declare a mistrial and we’ll have to start all over. The defense has to be feeling good right now."

The jury in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial returned a verdict Tuesday.

The jurors reached a verdict on four of the five counts against Diddy around 4:18pm ET. The jury indicated they couldn't reach a unanimous decision on the racketeering charge.

Jurors began deliberating on Monday, June 30, after hearing seven weeks of trial testimony. The prosecution chose to rest the case on June 24. Special Agent Joseph Cerciello was the final witness to take the stand for the prosecution, making him the 34th person to testify.

Diddy's defense called no witnesses.

🚨BREAKING: DIDDY WAS LIKELY JUST FOUND NOT GUILTY ⚠️

The jury now has a verdict on 2,3,4, and 5, but they are split on 1. ‘Count One’ (Racketeering Conspiracy) is one of the easiest charges to convict him on in my opinion. If they are split on that, then they almost certainly found him NOT GUILTY on the other charges.

They are trying to make it look fair but the fix is in! This is the biggest sham of a trial.

Sean "Diddy" Combs’ former bodyguard, “Big Homie,” also just fled the United States, claiming he fears for his life that Diddy walks.

He says that based on what he’s revealed publicly, Diddy will come after him.

"I know if he walks, I'll be target number one."

I'm just curious. I can't say I've followed this trial very closely but most of what I've read says the women weren't coerced...nor were the men.

Unless one of the charges are he's a sleazy, perverted, control freak, slimeball....is he guilty?

I called it. This was a terribly prosecuted case by the SDNY. They never made the case that trafficking was involved. As for RICO…. they weren't even close.

Diddy not guilty on three most serious charges, guilty on two lesser charges. Big upset based on expectations. The government overcharged and didn’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt the most serious charges. I agree with jury on their verdict on serious charges.

The daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, Maurene Comey faced a setback when the jury found the performer not guilty of some of the most serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. However, the jury did side with prosecutors on two counts, finding Combs guilty of violating the Mann Act of 1910 by transporting women across state lines for prostitution.

Maurene Comey was a prosecutor in the Jeffrey Epstein trial prior to his death in prison and also had a lead role in Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.

She leads the violent and organized crime unit in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY).
