 Trump says he found a TikTok buyer
by Sarah Fortinsky - 06/30/25 8:21 AM ET

President Trump said in a Sunday interview that he has found a buyer for TikTok, the popular video-sharing app that Congress voted to ban if China-based parent company, ByteDance, did not divest from the platform.

“We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way,” Trump said in an interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo.

“I think I’ll need probably China approval, and I think President Xi will probably do it,” he added.

Asked who the buyer is, Trump said, “I’ll tell you in about two weeks.”

The president added that the buyers are “very, very wealthy people.”

“It’s a group of very wealthy people.”

I think J. Wellington Wimpy said it best, "I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."

I am guessing that the list is pretty limited to our known Tech Barons.   Over/Under on Musk, Bezos. Cook, Gates, Zuckerberg, Ellison,  Page/Brin, Huang?

Added my (IMO) Tik Tok odds.

* Ellison (Oracle)-  Has the cash, but an utter longshot. 50-1
* I am counting out Musk, because of the potential outcry of COI.   20-1
* Trump hates Gates, I think he's out.  15-1
* This really isn't in Bezos business model and wheelhouse.  15-1
* Google (Brin/Page) has been an unapologetic  tool of the left.  If DJT has any say, they are an outlier, but not out of the question.  And as owners of You Tube, they also might see this as a play to monopolize this tech space.  10-1
* Huang (NVIDIA)- NVIDIA is sitting on a mountain of market cap, and I won't be surprised to see this as their first venture outside their core business.
* Tim Cook has warmed recently to Trump, and Apple is infamous for diversification.  5-1
* As with Cook, Zuck has put on the knee pads, and I am sure he is dying to get his hands on it. This would create a perfect marriage with FB and Instagram.  5-1.
* Other- Including combos of companies, consortiums.  I expect some kind of surprise  2-3
