Trump Rips GOP Senator For Voting Against OBBB, Green-Lights Primary Challenge

President Donald Trump ripped Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) for voting against advancing the Big Beautiful Bill on Saturday night. In a follow-up post, the president announced that he will be meeting with potential primary challengers to Tillis, who is widely viewed as one of the most vulnerable incumbents in the upcoming midterm elections cycle.

Tillis was among three Senate Republicans who voted against advancing the bill on Saturday night, joining Senators Rand Paul (R-KY) and Ron Johnson (R-WI). Johnson later met with fellow budget hawks in Senate Majority Leader Thune’s office in order to potentially change his vote, while Paul has long expressed opposition to the legislation over debt ceiling concerns.

While Tillis had expressed concerns over Medicaid funding, his decision to vote against the bill largely caught the conference off-guard and drew the ire of President Trump.

“Looks like Senator Thom Tillis, as usual, wants to tell the Nation that he’s giving them a 68% Tax Increase, as opposed to the Biggest Tax Cut in American History! At the same time, he is unable to understand the importance of a Debt Extension, which Republicans gave to the Democrats just prior to the November 5th Election, because of its significance, and how important it was for the future of the U.S.A.,” the president posted on Truth Social.

Empty threat.  Finding feasible primary challengers against sitting U.S. Senators is nigh near impossible, with the exception of Texas.

How much federal funding did Planned Parenthood get under the new BIG Beautiful Bill?

Depends on the final result. Near as I can tell most of it for a year (senate version)

Tillis was forced out because his constituents did not want him to vote for this pile of garbage.

The dems now have a clear path to retake the senate, with open seats in North Carolina, Ohio, likely Texas, and competitive races in Alaska and Maine. 

Kemp and Sununu were the best chances the GOP had to flip seats, but opted not to deal with this political environment.

So Elon Musk comes in, shows them where all our tax dollars are going to fill Democrat campaign coffers, and Republican Senators simply rubber stamp the spending for another year.  Again.

This is why they call the GOP the Stupid Party.  And people on this forum are cheering it on - more taxpayer funding to help Planned Parenthood kill more babies.  At least Tillis didn't sell out.

Or more likely, just tired of the threats and BS.  Despite all the poo-pooing on Medicaid, it's a HUGE issue in the South and Midwest.  Tillis is not wrong.

BREAKING: By a vote of 49-51, the Senate has just REJECTED an amendment which would have funded Planned Parenthood as part of the BBB.
