Marc Morano: Electric vehicles require half a million pounds of material dug up from the Earth in order to make one 1000-pound average-sized battery for an EV. There is nothing about them that screams ‘Earth-friendly.’

It would require 18 times the amount of cobalt we’ve already extracted if the EV mandates were to go through. Potentially half of the world’s rare Earths would be necessary, but even after you get past the digging of the Earth, you have to recharge EVs on grids from fossil fuel, so you’re using coal, oil, and gas to recharge EVs.
