Windrose Technology, a Chinese company that manufactures electric big rig trucks that can travel 400 miles, fully loaded, on a single charge, is in the final stages of choosing a factory site in California, Arizona or Georgia.

I can't imagine there would be much of a market for this truck. It seems impractical, at least, as long as we still have fossil fuels.

Imagine an EV car with removable batteries, sorta like propane canisters, you swap out the old ones, swap in the new ones, and buy more if you want. That, possibly, could be competitive with FF cars, absolutely. And I believe EV cars would absolutely be less maintenance. But for having to wait to charge, the strain on electrical grid, the weight of the vehicles IMO they're just not ready for prime time for most people right now.

Demand for EVs seems to be in coastal areas and in the sunbelt.

In coastal areas, there is enough salt in the air to eat ordinary steel vehicles, and the idea of keeping contacts for removable batteries free of corrosion might prove to be a nightmare.

A co-worker of mine, who lives in south central New Hampshire, once owned what I called a "commie car" - an EV that wasn't a Tesla.

Needless to say, the car's charge wasn't able to last his hilly 50-mile commute in Winter ... the cold, the hills, the heat, the wipers, etc., completely drained the battery before he could reach the office.

Electric vehicles have a niche, but the technology is too immature to eliminate the internal combustion engine to be practical for interrupted (weather,traffic,construction,detour) trips.
