Mamdani is Theater Kid 2.0. Global elite theater kid, the diluted and expanded version of the 1.0 feminized Ivy League Brooklyn DSA rich kid that they encountered in college then immediately mirrored so as to social climb.

I have encountered several of this type—defined by rootlessness, “friendsgivings,” discussion of pop culture (Brat, Succession etc), highly curated and totally empty ethnic culture signaling, abandonment of any actual religious beliefs as their religion is neoliberal globalism. A very scary, zombie-like sort of person whose entire life is about projecting their appropriateness and lack of threat—except on the political issues which they are comfortable making veiled violent threats towards nativists and other evil empire bad guys.

One of these types once approached me and attempted to have a bro-like sports conversation…about WNBA. A truly disgusting oozing chungus type.

Mamdani’s mother is a world-famous, Academy Award-nominated Bollywood director worth tens of millions of dollars. His father is a chaired professor at Columbia. He is, in effect, a perpetual theatre kid who’s pretending to be “Third World.” It’s all so, so performative + stupid.

Zohran Mamdani went to Elementary School at a private Bank Street School for Children on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where the current tuition is $68,793 a year for 5th grade. Maybe he learned about the Third World there? 🤷‍♂️

Mamdani claimed to be “Black” or “African American” when he applied to Columbia. Mamdani was born in Uganda & lived there a few years, but he is very much South Asian & very much not black
