America isn’t a Jewish state. Why should America spend trillions like Bibi wanted during 2002, to fight their war?
Think back to 1979, and we have been 'at war' with the Iranian Government, directly or by proxy, ever since.
It may have languished in the background, but why do you think Saddam had the 4th largest army in the World?
It was allowed as long as he was waging war with Iran. When he started turning on other neighbors, we beat him back from Kuwait, and then took him out. The bombings of the Khobar Towers, the Marine Barracks in Beiruit, and a host of other events (USS Cole, for another) have all had Iranian fingerprints on them. While direct conflict has not been evident, the Iranian (Government's) declaration that it would destroy "The Great Satan" (that's the US, BTW) has been a constant. Israel, "The Lesser Satan", has been high on their target list as well.
So, just because there hasn't been a body count every night on the 6 o'clock news doesn't mean that that state of war hasn't existed since the Shah was deposed, it just means that while they have been at war with us, we have not conspicuously been at war with them. We don't have to be a Jewish state, Christians are high on their 'hit' parade, and any non Shi'a Muslim is an infidel or keffir in their estimation and less than human, anyway. The
Dar al Islam requires the conversion, subjugation, or elimination of all others than their particular flavor of Muslim, anyway; the elimination of the Dar-al-Harb.
All that's just fine, sorta. It's like the big kid on the block ignoring the little kid who is constantly threatening to kick their ass.
But when the little kid is building a double barrel shotgun, when they have the ammo, you have to take that threat seriously. Iran has made progress with drones (they've been supplying the Russians in the Ukraine conflict), and some not inconsiderable progress with ballistic and cruise missiles. While for most, that is a survivable development (unless you are within the kill radius of the warhead), if you couple those developments with a nuclear warhead, no matter how primitive, the equation changes.
In short, just as the big kid would stop the little kid from getting a shotgun, we have the means to stop or seriously interrupt the Ayatolah's nuclear weapons program. Enrichment levels of 60% aren't done to get a better nuclear reactor (a questionable motive in an oil rich state, anyway). Medical isotopes can be obtained in much smaller research reactors. There is only one reason to take uranium enrichment past 3 to 5% U-235 (reactor fuel-grade Uranium) is to build a bomb.
Considering the long history of Iran's Mullahs and the Ayatolah's proxy war against the US and Israel, and their missile (just one difficult to intercept delivery system) development, they simply cannot be allowed to have a bomb. Other, more primitive (less technical) delivery options exist. Literally tons of drugs, and thousands of humans are smuggled into the US annually, the bomb could fit in a car trunk. For them, our destruction is something only to be planned and plotted for, not subject to negotiation because they have a religious belief that they are mandated to do this. You can't talk them out of that, only be deceived by what they say as they continue to make progress toward their ends. Their actions have spoken, far louder than their words. We have merely replied in a way that has been heard.
