SpaceX is conducting a second static fire test of Ship 36. It is expected that Ship 36 will be used for Starship Flight 10. Ship 36 previously performed 2 cryogenic proof tests, and one single engine static fire.

FAA approves Starship Flight 10 after mishap probe, eyes August 24 launch

SpaceX has received clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct the 10th test flight of its Starship rocket, with a targeted launch date of August 24.

The approval for Flight 10 comes after the closure of an investigation into anomalies during the vehicle’s previous mission, marking a key step forward in SpaceX’s test program.

The FAA announced on Friday morning that it had concluded its review of the mishap from Starship’s Flight 9, which occurred earlier this year. That test involved Booster 14, making its second flight as the Super Heavy first stage, paired with Ship 35.

SpaceX Starship 10 Flight Test: Ready to Rumble

The tenth flight test of the SpaceX Starship is preparing to launch as soon as Sunday, August 24. The launch window will open at 6:30 p.m. CENTRAL TIME in Texas.

As is the case with all developmental testing, SpaceX explains, the schedule is dynamic and likely to change, so be sure to stay tuned to the Space X account for updates.

After completing the investigations into the loss of Starship on its ninth flight test and the Ship 36 static fire anomaly, hardware and operational changes have been made to increase reliability.

The upcoming flight will continue to expand the operating envelope on the Super Heavy booster, with multiple landing burn tests planned. It will also target similar objectives as previous missions, including Starship’s first payload deployment and multiple reentry experiments geared towards returning the upper stage to the launch site for catch.

SpaceX Starship Flight 10 - Second Attempt

SpaceX launches the 10th flight of Starship from Starbase, Texas. The launch window for Booster 16 and Ship 37 opens at 6:30PM CT local time (23:30 UTC) on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from Pad A.

This mission will not include a catch of Booster 16, as the Booster will continue its envelope expansion experiments, and splash down in the Gulf. Ship 37 will be the focus of this test flight, as SpaceX aims to perform a successful SECO with the upgraded Block 2 version, and entry testing.

SpaceX scrubbed the Sunday, August 24th launch attempt due to Ground Service Equipment (GSE) issues shortly after beginning propellant loading.
