Ret. Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges was the US Army's commanding general for its forces in Europe until 2017.

Ret. Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges said Ukraine's combat effectiveness standard is far higher than most of NATO.

The former US Army commander said NATO armies should be 'begging' Ukraine to teach them.

As examples, Hodges praised Ukraine's navy in the Black Sea and its integrated air defenses.

A retired US Army general said it's most of NATO, not Ukraine, that has to learn from the other about combat.
