Large parts of the USA suffered a radio blackout due to major activity in space this week.

On June 15, North America found itself under a shortwave radio blackout, leading to a loss of signal at frequencies below 20 Megahertz (MHz).

Amateur radio operators may have been affected by the signal loss, with commercial radio usually operating at a higher MHz rate.

BOOM! 6.4 M-Flare from AR4114, with a sympathetic flare right afterwards from the western limb (very likely 4105). An hour after peak x-ray flux we're still at R1 levels. More solar flares, radio blackouts, and CMES are very likely! This is all lining up nicely for the June 21st forecast for a strong magnetic storm being likely. That forecast is based primarily on the significant heliocentric planetary geometry, and I first made that forecast public on May 29th, so more than 3 weeks in advance.
