Russian foreign ministry issued an official statement regarding US strikes on Iran.

They "strongly condemned" the strikes, called this an "irresponsible decision" and called to "end the aggression."

Obviously, everything in that statement applies to Russia.

Full text of the statement:

"Statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs regarding the US strikes on Iranian territory

Russia strongly condemns the strikes carried out by the United States at dawn on June 22 against several nuclear facilities in Iran, which followed Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic.

The irresponsible decision to launch missile and bomb strikes on the territory of a sovereign state, regardless of the arguments used to justify it, grossly violates international law, the UN Charter, and the resolutions of the UN Security Council, which has previously clearly classified such actions as unacceptable. It is particularly alarming that the strikes were carried out by a country that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

The consequences of this action, including radiological ones, have yet to be assessed. However, it is already clear that a dangerous escalation has begun, threatening further destabilization of both regional and global security. The risk of the conflict spreading in the Middle East — a region already plagued by numerous crises — has significantly increased.

We are particularly concerned about the damage caused by the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities to the global non-proliferation regime based on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

The strikes on Iran have severely undermined the authority of the NPT and the system of verification and monitoring by the IAEA that is based on it.

We expect the leadership of the Agency to respond promptly and professionally, without vague language or attempts to hide behind political “neutrality.” An objective report by the IAEA Director General must be prepared for consideration at a special session of the Agency, which should be convened as soon as possible.

Naturally, the UN Security Council must also respond. Confrontational actions by the US and Israel must be collectively rejected.

We call for an end to the aggression and for intensified efforts to bring the situation back into the framework of political and diplomatic resolution."
