Trump is responding to the lack of response by Local and State officials to keep Federal agents and facilities secure.
The "mostly peaceful" protests were violent before Federal escalation (beyond fulfilling their sworn duties to detain, process, and deport illegal aliens).
Inflammatory rhetoric from Democrats as far as 3000 miles from the epicenter of these riots continues to incite more violence against police, people, and property, pushing not only for additional violence through rhetoric about "civil war" but additional locations as well.
BTW, any "war" initiated by illegal aliens (foreign nationals, displaying their flag--Mexico and one which could have been El Salvador, Honduras, or Nicaragua) on US soil is not a "Civil War", but an invasion by foreign forces (assisted by their domestic sympathizers).
Every nation on the planet has a right to repel invaders, especially hostile ones.
Shut it down, round them up, deport the foreign nationals, and prosecute their American sympathizers and facilitators. If that means following the money chain for paid protesters back upstream, then do it, and prosecute and defund those bankrolling this mess.
