The Ukraine War should much more accurately be called "The War of NATO Expansion." Or maybe the "TDS War." Or perhaps "The Proxy War Against Russia." "The Beyond STUPID War" is my personal favorite label.

I've always been an avid reader and one of the books I read when I was fifteen was "The Guns of August" by Barbara Tuchman which detailed how World War I began. I was amazed at the time at how easily avoidable that war was by simply not following through on absurd entangling alliances. Unfortunately, although it is easy to start a war it is very difficult to end a war even though the destruction goes far beyond what the belligerents expected.

Equally, or perhaps even more ABSURD, than how WWI began was how the war in Ukraine began. Why? Because the USA pledged in 1991 to the Soviet Union NOT to expand NATO eastward as the Soviet Bloc in Eastern Europe continued its collapse. So what happened? The pledge was broken as Professor Jeffrey Sachs explained, with the result being that Russia went into extreme alarm mode when it appeared that Ukraine might soon join NATO. And why would the USA hype the expansion of NATO into Ukraine and risk the reaction from Russia which ended up happening especially after the moron known as Kamala Harris pushed that idea at the Munich Security Conference shortly before the Ukraine War began in February 2020? As crazy as it sounds, TDS was a big factor. Liberals blamed Putin for Trump winning the 2016 election despite the fact that the Mueller Report concluded that there was NO Trump-Russia collusion. So now the liberals are gloating over the fact that Putin is now being punished in what they are promoting as a PROXY WAR with Russia despite the fact that Russia is much to weak to pose a threat to America. Meanwhile those same liberals downplay the very real threat from our true enemy namely Communist China.

So a fifteen year old kid who was amazed at the stupid reasons why nations went to war in 1914 is now even more astonished as a much older version of his previous self that nations have now plunged into an insane war for even STUPIDER reasons. NATO expansion, TDS, Proxy War. All NONSENSE!

Complete unadulterated bullshit.  This war began in 2014, over a year before Trump even announced his intent to run for President.  As for NATO expansion, NATO rejected Ukraine's entry for seven years.  And it was only after Ukraine's President announced to the world that Ukraine would not be joining NATO that Russia launched its full scale invasion.  I am really sick and tired of seeing these lies posted here.

Me too.  And there was NO such promise in 1990.  Gorbachev himself said so.

The topic of “NATO expansion” was not discussed at all, and it wasn’t brought up in those years. I say this with full responsibility. Not a singe Eastern European country raised the issue, not even after the Warsaw Pact ceased to exist in 1991. Western leaders didn’t bring it up, either. Another issue we brought up was discussed: making sure that NATO’s military structures would not advance and that additional armed forces from the alliance would not be deployed on the territory of the then-GDR after German reunification. Baker’s statement, mentioned in your question, was made in that context. Kohl and [German Vice Chancellor Hans-Dietrich] Genscher talked about it.

Everything that could have been and needed to be done to solidify that political obligation was done. And fulfilled. The agreement on a final settlement with Germany said that no new military structures would be created in the eastern part of the country; no additional troops would be deployed; no weapons of mass destruction would be placed there. It has been observed all these years. So don’t portray Gorbachev and the then-Soviet authorities as naïve people who were wrapped around the West’s finger. If there was naïveté, it was later, when the issue arose. Russia at first did not object.

The lies in this video are staggering.  The lease for Sevastopol was extended in 2010, securing the base for Russia through 2047.  Yet the speaker blatantly lies that the US provoked Russia into invading Russia in 2014 by blocking an extension.  Pure lies.

Signing of the deal reached at the Kharkiv summit at 21 April 2010 by Alexey Miller and Yevhen Bakulin
(with Dimitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych standing in the background)

So where do we stand legally?  Under the previous contract, Russia is obligated to pay Ukraine for use of the base until 2017.  Under the new contract, they are obligated to pay through 2047.  So invasion or no invasion, Russia is contractually obligated to make lease payments directly to Ukraine.  Yet it was Russia who unilaterally defaulted on the contract in 2014.

Who is the man who begins speaking at the 2:20 mark?  He's a real piece of work.

At around the 6:00 mark, he argues that the US plan was for Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Georgia and Turkey to deprive Russia of any international status by blocking the Black Sea.  That is just plain asinine, especially considering that Turkey alone controls who enters and exits the Black Sea.  And seriously, being able to put ships the Black Sea is what defines international status these days?  Who in the heck is this guy?

It's way past time for the US to once and for all cut the damn cord with Europe.

We *were* warned ....

Quote
Excessive partiality for one foreign nation and excessive dislike of another cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.

The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop. Europe has a set of primary interests which to us have none; or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves by artificial ties in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics, or the ordinary combinations and collisions of her friendships or enmities.

Our detached and distant situation invites and enables us to pursue a different course. If we remain one people under an efficient government, the period is not far off when we may defy material injury from external annoyance; when we may take such an attitude as will cause the neutrality we may at any time resolve upon to be scrupulously respected; when belligerent nations, under the impossibility of making acquisitions upon us, will not lightly hazard the giving us provocation; when we may choose peace or war, as our interest, guided by justice, shall counsel.

Your premise:

Absolutely. I think you're catching on.

What we don't need is be involved in every psycho dispute the genetically programmed European warmongers choose to wallow in.  We need to exit NATO, pick up our blood and remaining treasure, then toot the horn and wave on our way out.

Our relationship with Europe should be commerce based, at our discretion and on our terms... nothing more, nothing less.

Try as you and your ilk have to find one, there is no American interest in this Russia/Ukraine border dispute.  All you've done is soak the ground with blood and waste our national treasure ---- while trying to ignite WWIII.   Had America heeded Washington's advice, your insanity would be shunned, as it should be, and the US would be safer and more prosperous for it.

What happens when your commerce counter-parties are conquered, and all debts owed to your country and its businesses are now null and void?

One reason America had to join the fighting in WWI was that France and Britain owed the US a lot of money.  If the Germans won, those debts would we insolvent and worthless.

If Putin conquers Europe, what happens to America's European markets, debtors, and trading partners?

The neo-con plan was for all nations to be commercially integrated so there would be a collective financial interest to maintain global peace.  They forgot that the Chinese People's Republic was still communist and, then, Russia adopted crony capitalism instead of free market capitalism.

So, America is vulernable because our supply chains are dependent upon a Communist Regime that is actively planning to be America's military and economic enemy.  All because some saw free market potential in places where it was really a duplicitous mirage to steal technology, intellectual property, and trade secrets.

Absolutely. I think you're catching on.

Ah, Gorbachev doesn't know what he's talking about, eh?   *****rollingeyes*****

And even if we accept your false premise, the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore.  Moreover, NATO is a DEFENSIVE alliance, and member nations have to ASK to join.  And they have very good reason to do so, considering that the Russians have a nasty habit of invading and subjugating their neighbors.

Probably not since Trump was openly backing the Ukrainians at the time and shipping Javelin missiles and other military assistance to Kyiv during his administration.

Utter nonsense.  The war began in March 2014 when Putin's "Little Green Men" invaded and seized Crimea from Ukraine, followed by Luhansk and Donetsk.  NATO had nothing to do with Putin's aggression.

What are you smoking?  Putin cannot deal with Ukraine let alone attack any other nation in Europe!

And the facts are not discussed in the idiot tape above.  Putin is the sole aggressor here.  PERIOD!!!  All the other discourse on NATO gobbling up eastern European nations being the cause of Putin leveling a nation, a nation not in NATO, and murdering millions in Ukraine has nothing to do with NATO.

It has every bit to do with Putin's desire to control the mineral wealth of eastern Ukraine.  Period.

If  Putin wanted to complain about NATO encroaching on their border, they could have filed a complaint with the Security Council.  But Putin did nothing along the lines of going to the UN to resolve any complaint he had.  He decided unilaterally, that he would recreate the former USSR, and Ukraine would be the first targeted nation.  And then on to the Baltic nations and Poland, etc.  That is reality.

And now Putin is destroying his own nation with his insanity.  NATO had nothing to do with his decision to destroy Ukraine.

Frankly, Putin thought he could pull off what Hitler did in the 30s and 40s.  But the big surprise is that Russia is a paper tiger.  As losing a ton of their waring equipment, they have proven to be extremely weak militarily., and is now getting bested by a much smaller nation.

Gee! Last time I checked .  .  .

What was it exactly that you checked?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Gee! Last time I checked it was a Ukraine operative who tried to assassinate Trump at the golf club in Palm Beach. And DON'T tell me he was operating solo.

Nonsense. The Ukrainians have assassinated scads of deserving Russians. They know how to kill people. Clearly they had nothing to do with either attempt on the President.
