   The way I figure it @jmyrlefuller is Trump is playing multi-dimensional chess again or being as dense as a jr. high school girl, the later would be obvious to me. 
   I've seen Trumpers come up with all kinda silly $hit to explain this outburst to the World, as I knew they would. 
   It just doesn't make sense to me but I'm quite certain OUR Resident Trumpers will have an explanation.

I agree with this analysis.  Musk wanted his man in charge at NASA so that he could run that agency by proxy, and either Trump or somebody in Trump's orbit thwarted him, leading to his anger and disgruntlement, which was aggravated further by the "BBB" and exclusion of EV credits that he needed for Tesla. 

I also think that, as he is prone to do, the seemingly manic depressive Musk went on a Ketamine binge (along with God knows what else), which also led to this week's increasingly unfiltered X attacks.  Now, that it's wore off and he's shaken out of it, he's got some remorse and trying to signal a possible reconciliation "for the good of the country."

Yesterday was wild. Elon Musk and Donald Trump engaged in nuclear warfare. Musk went so far as to insinuate that Trump was part of the pedophilic activities associated with the late Jeffrey Epstein. This tweet dropped after the president threatened to nix all government subsidies to Elon’s companies. Trump was reserved. 

Elon was the one who took things to eleven and truly went off the reservation. Is there a chance of a reconciliation? Maybe—today is the day when the president and Musk will have a phone call and reportedly make peace (via Politico):

    Signs of a truce are emerging in the increasingly bitter clash between two of the world’s most powerful men.

    President Donald Trump projected an air of nonchalance in an interview Thursday with POLITICO during a day of sparring over social media with Elon Musk.

    Separately, White House aides, after working to persuade the president to temper his public criticism of Musk to avoid escalation, scheduled a call Friday with the billionaire CEO of Tesla to broker a peace.

    “Oh it’s okay,” Trump told POLITICO in a brief telephone call when asked about the very public breakup with his onetime megabacker. “It’s going very well, never done better.” Trump went on to tout his favorability ratings saying, “The numbers are through the roof, the highest polls I’ve ever had and I have to go.”

There's Been an Update About That Reported Phone Call Between Trump, Musk Following Feud

The phone call that was reportedly scheduled between President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Friday does not look like it will take place following remarks the president made to ABC News this morning.

On Thursday evening, POLITICO reported that White House aides set up the call "to broker a peace," but when the president was asked about it by ABC News early Friday morning, Trump’s response was telling.

“You mean the man who has lost his mind?" he replied, noting he is "not particularly" interested in speaking with Musk right now. 

    He said Musk wants to talk to him, but he's not ready to talk to Musk.

    Trump then talked for a couple of minutes about other things -- referring to inflation (down), foreign investment (up) and his plans for a visit to China (huge).

    People close to Trump have described him as more sad than angry at Musk. One adviser who was with Trump on Thursday night said he seemed "bummed" about the breakup. And that's the way he sounded on Friday morning.

    Trump is considering either giving away or selling the red Tesla he purchased to support Musk, a senior administration official told ABC News' Rachel Scott Friday morning. The Tesla was parked just on West Executive Avenue on Thursday. Trump made a show of checking out Tesla models at the White House in March as Musk's company took a hit as he arrived in Washington. By Thursday evening, Musk signaled a willingness to possibly make amends when he replied to advice from billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman.

We're watching The Real Housewives of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  It's only a matter of time before Trump flips over the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.
